Valentine’s Date

Planning something special for your valentine does not have to be difficult, or expensive. If you have been with your sweetheart for a while you will learn about things they like and dislike. Do they like surprises? If not, then you should avoid them (the surprises that is). When is the last time you have taken your significant other to the place you met, proposed, or had a very special memory? If it has been a while since you have gone there that is a romantic idea that can be special for both of you. Planning something at home can be fun too. Cooking something special together, and then enjoying the romantic dinner afterwards can be exciting. Once finished with dinner, watching a favorite movie, or playing a game you both enjoy is a good idea.

If you want to watch a movie in a romantic setting outside your home, Casablanca is showing at the Alabama Theatre at 7:00 P.M. on Valentine’s Day. Come early to hear the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ and maybe sing along. If you are focusing on food, think about taking advantage of the Birmingham Taste Tour where you can enjoy a walking food, drink and historic tour of some Birmingham restaurants and neighborhoods on the 14th. Of course there are other things taking place around the Birmingham area before during and after Valentine’s Day to take advantage of doing. Some ideas are going to the World of Wheels at the BJCC on the weekend before, reserving your spots to see the Glenn Miller Orchestra perform on February 10th at the same venue, see piano virtuoso Kenny Broberg on the 13th at the Birmingham Museum of Art, or maybe visit the Birmingham Home and Garden Show that begins on February 15th. So whatever you choose make sure you keep the romancing of your partner in mind, and make it a date to remember.
