The fourth Thursday in November. Can you taste the food yet? Turkey, dressing, potatoes, green beans, squash casserole, desserts…mmm the list can be almost endless and definitely one of the most enjoyable meals of the year. The fun of getting together with family and discussing the latest events in everyone’s lives is also very fulfilling for many. Thanksgiving Day holds many fond memories for families over the years. For some it may be one of the few times the extended family gets together to eat, reminisce and laugh each year. For the children it can be an exciting time to run and play outside, or scheme with their cousins about the next harmless prank they may play on mom or dad.
Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on the blessings we have. Although no one has a trouble free life we do live in a country that offers us the freedom to make choices that may help us overcome issues we experience. If our health is good, we have food to eat and a safe place to sleep at night we have it better than many people in the world. So during this time of Thanksgiving please take a moment to pause, reflect on the good things that surround you, and determine to be thankful for the positive things in your life.
