From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend many people plan vacations. One of the most popular places to vacation is the beach. In Alabama we are fortunate to have beautiful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. At Gulf Shores and nearby Orange Beach (do not forget Fort Morgan either) there are plenty of places to stay, eat and play. The recently updated Gulf Place at Gulf Shores is a public beach that has great paths for walking and biking. Gulf Place also has shaded areas to look out over the beach and ocean. Additionally there is beach access in front of the many hotels, condominiums and residences located in the Gulf Shores area.
If fishing is your thing then there are places such as the Gulf State Park Pier which provides great access to fishing in the ocean. You can bring children under age ten and let them fish with you for free. You also can sightsee from the pier for a slight fee. Even if you did not bring your own gear you can rent some at the pier. If you are ready to get on a boat there are fishing charters you can experience that departs from multiple locations along the coast.
Another fun thing to do is to take a cruise. One idea is to take a cruise and look for dolphins. If you like something more romantic you can take a sunset dinner cruise from Orange Beach.
If you are seeking adventure then parasailing may be your thing. You also may want to rent a boat, Jet Ski, or something similar to explore the ocean on your own.
Speaking of fish earlier, there are many great restaurants where you can order fresh seafood to delight your taste. If you want steak, there are also great places for steak. Of course you can find pizza and almost anything else you wish to eat within a short drive of where you are staying in the area.
Entertainment options are plentiful for families such as putt putt golf, go cart rides, etc. If you wish to take the adult option and go play a round of golf that is available also.
So as June is here plan your vacation now and head down to the coast for fun filled times.
